DD Imports embraces the best of the “new wave” of brewers which are making a mark and are today’s trend setters. The Craft Beer industry is constantly reinventing itself: bigger and hazier IPAs are always in the works; there’s a new “hot” brewery opening before you have the chance to check out the last one. It’s perhaps no surprise, then, that today craft beer lovers may overlook the great innovators and stories behind their vision and execution. While Burton on Trent and Bamburg brewers treasure and trumpet their past, and the new wave of brewers tend to eschew theirs: we pass labels every day that herald the forefathers of the industry, without even knowing what they mean, but in many ways they’re one of the last public indicators of those who came before and their influence. As it is, the labels from Traquair House, Ayinger and Samuel Smith act as a road map through the history of brewing – it just takes a little investigating. Here we present the backstories on influential breweries that you probably never thought twice about.
In 2009, DD Imports with help from Calgary Flames Alumni and local volunteers in Montana founded the Craft Brewers Hockey League. Co-rec teams from Airdrie to Polson Montana play outdoors to help fund-raise for the Flathead Valley Hockey Association in Kalispell MT. It has grown from 4 teams over 1 day to a 3-day event in 2018.
DD Imports COO sourced and introduced Brew Dog, Shmaltz & Tamarack and other top-rated brews into western Canada. The company currently represents award-winning craft brewers & cider makers from around the world.
